Frequently asked questions
Straight answers about how NRG+ works, who pays, and what we do with your details.
What is NRG+ Trusted by CANDAI?
NRG+ is a free service run by CANDAI. You choose the home energy upgrades you are interested in, see indicative costs and savings, and we introduce you to one vetted, verified firm where we have one for your postcode.
Does it cost me anything?
No. You do not pay CANDAI anything to use NRG+. A firm we introduce may pay CANDAI a fee for introductions. The price for any work is agreed between you and the firm.
Will my details be sold or sent to several companies?
No. Each enquiry goes to one firm only, and only after a match is made. We do not sell your details and we do not pass them round a list.
What does “vetted” mean?
Before a firm can receive enquiries, a person at CANDAI checks and records that its company number matches Companies House, that we have seen its insurance, that we have seen a relevant accreditation for the work, and that its public reviews meet our minimum. A firm that stops meeting these checks can be suspended.
What if there is no vetted firm in my area?
We are onboarding vetted firms in your area and will tell you honestly if we cannot match you yet. If we cannot, we keep your request safely, do not pass your details to anyone, and come back to you when we can.
Do you cover the whole UK?
The service works with UK postcodes. That is different from having a vetted firm in every area, because we are opening area by area. We will say plainly if we cannot match you yet.
Are the costs and savings quotes?
No. They are indicative ranges for a typical UK home, anchored to Energy Saving Trust averages. They are not a quote, a survey or an EPC. The firm will survey your home and price the job properly.
Do you look up my EPC?
No. We do not look up your home on the EPC register. If you know your EPC band, type or age you can enter it to make the ranges more relevant, and you can skip them.
Can you promise a new EPC rating?
No. Only an accredited domestic energy assessor can issue an EPC, and the points an upgrade adds depend on the whole home. We show indicative ranges only.
I am a tenant or a landlord. Can I use NRG+?
You can tell us which you are on the form. Tenants usually need the landlord’s permission for work, and leaseholders may need the freeholder’s. Landlords should check the current minimum EPC rules for rented homes.
How long do you keep my details?
Enquiries are deleted from this website’s database after 12 months, and the copy held in CANDAI’s customer management system is kept for 12 months unless you ask us to delete it sooner. See our privacy notice for details.
How do I contact you or ask for my data to be deleted?
Email sales@candai.co.uk. CANDAI is at 143 Delaneys Road, Manchester, M8 4RE.
